Harrisburg July 4th Celebration

The biggest event in Harrisburg is the Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration. Harrisburg still honors our nations birthday today much the way it was done a hundred years ago, with Family, Community, and lots of Fun!
The emphasis of the Harrisburg Community Fourth of July Association is on friends, family, fun and community! This years theme is Peace, Love & Fireworks! Since 1866, Harrisburg is the great community it is because of the volunteers who have helped make this a wonderful place to live and work. Join us as we celebrate our patriotism, our history, and the people in our community who make a difference.
2025 Grand Marshall: Ross Family - Farmer's Helper
Please drop by their business located at 390 LaSalle St, and give them a huge thank you! This is a local family owned business that has supported so many organizations here in Harrisburg for many years!

Harrisburg Parade: We need more volunteers! Please email HarrisburgJuly4thCelebration@comcast.net to let us know if you can help, or visit https://www.facebook.com/HarrisburgJuly4th for the latest information. You must Register to be in the parade this year......If you are a child, or a school float, then you are not required to pay the fee of $5. (The fee is charged because it takes a lot of volunteer time to track the waivers!) Please go to the Facebook page or email us to get the form. No Candy may be thrown from any vehicle or float, it must be handed out to children.

Fireworks: All of us loved the bigger fireworks last year; we heard from lots of people in town that they could see the fireworks from in-town better than in the past, plus everyone loved the longer show. However, the price of our fireworks have increased, and we've recently decided that we are going to keep displaying the bigger and better fireworks! That means, unfortunately, that our Fireworks cost more than they ever have in the past! The more money we raise, the bigger the boom!
Please help us by donating where you can, as the fireworks are completely paid for by the volunteers who work so hard on behalf of our community! Please remember that individual fireworks may not be shot off west of 2nd St., and be aware of increasing fire danger. If you park near a farmer's fields to watch the fireworks, please be careful with your vehicle, and don't set off sparklers, or anything that can get away and start a fire.
Vendors: Yes, we have vendors! Some of them are old favorites, but there are a few new ones too. Plus, our restaurants are having great specials! Watch the HFEA Facebook page for announcements. The Vendor Application for 2025 has been up since February; please find that on the menu on the left!
Bands: Evening Bands will be decided soon. We have traditionally had a band in the afternoon, with another playing from 6:00 or 6:30 on the evening of the 4th. This will be followed by a presentation of colors, the pledge of allegiance, and the national anthem.
Flag Raising: There are two flag raising ceremonies this year. The first flag raising will be at the museum, on the morning of the 4th of July at 8:00am. The second flag raising ceremony will be held at 10:00 at the Riverfront Gazebo.
Declaration of Independence Display: Join Ray Brown and his family, in period costumes, in front of the Gazebo at the end of Smith St. Ray is a historian (& former teacher) who displays a rare five-piece collection of our nation's Declaration of Independence.
Firecracker 5K: We are holding our Firecracker 5K & Kids Fun Run event on Sunday, July 6, at 9:00am and 10:00am respectively! CLICK HERE to register. Register by June 21st in order to be sure to get your T-shirt size!
Pet & Costume Parade: Join the fun on the morning of Saturday, July 5th. Kids, adults, and pets are welcome, as well as bikes, wagons, or carts -- all decorated in red, white, and blue. Check-in starts at 10:30am on Schooling Street, between 1st and 2nd St., where the event will be staged. Judging starts at 10:45am and the parade begins at 11am.
