NOTICE OF PUBLIC EVENT PERMIT APPLICATION

PUBLIC COMMENT REQUESTED

CASE NO. 2025-03 Pacific Northwest Marathon-Friday September 19th and Saturday, September 20th, 2025.   

SITE LOCATION: The event is being held at Harrisburg Grade/Middle School Bus Driveway, located at the corner of 7th St/ Smith St (Near the cafeteria) on Friday, September 19th from 12pm -9pm, and on Saturday, September 21st, from 5am to 7pm.  (Noise-Music and Announcements on Saturday only from 6:30am to 2:30pm) Parking is allowed at the grade/middle school area near 7th/Smith and in the High School Parking Lot. No parking barricades will be placed for participants safety.

REQUEST:  The Pacific Northwest Marathon is a full marathon, that is a USATF qualifier for the Boston Marathon.  The Expo part of the event, on Friday night, along with the actual races on Saturday, will start at the middle school bus driveway at the middle school.  The Marathon starts at 7:00am, the Half Marathon starts at 8:00am, while both the 10K and 5K start at 9:00am.  The routes will use city streets, and then will segue to County Roads outside of town.

PUBLIC COMMENT PROCESS:  Conditions of Approval are required for this event and are attached.  If you wish to comment on the proposal, you may provide written comment to the City Administrator. Comments must be received by Monday, September 2, 2025 at 5:00pm.

DECISION: The City Administrator’s decision will be final unless appealed to the City Council. Appeals to the City Council must be submitted to the City Administrator, consistent with the provisions in HMC 9.52.120.

DECISION-MAKING CRITERIA: The City Administrator will evaluate this request based on specific review criteria from the Harrisburg Municipal Code (HMC) Chapter 9.52.  The Pending Conditions of Approval can be found below.
