Mayor & City Council

City Council Meetings are held at the Harrisburg Municipal Center, located at 354 Smith St., unless otherwise noted on the agenda.

The City Council is the governing body of the City of Harrisburg. The council is comprised of six members, including a Council President. The Mayor leads the council meetings. The primary responsibilities of the City Council are:

To lead the policy process and make policy decisions
Adopt ordinances, which are the local laws
Review and make legislative, quasi-judicial and administrative decisions for the city
Participate on council advisory committees

The City Council's normal schedule of meeting is on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, at 6:30, unless otherwise stated. The first meeting of the month is a regular business meeting, while the second meeting is typically reserved for Council Work Sessions. Additional City Council meetings may occur, as needed.
